The animation is very nostalgic but still feels modern. There are still boiling lines from old school animation but the pallet is fresh and light while also fitting the overall melancholic tone. It's a really difficult line to tote but this film does it very well.
It has a great message but isn't too preachy. The message becomes clearer as the film goes on.
Just genuinely masterful storytelling. I look forward to seeing more from the director.
